When is a PSCS required?
Under the Safety, Health and Welfare (Construction) Regulations 2006, a client must appoint a Project Supervisor for Construction Stage must be appointed for any construction project.

How do you define construction work?
The full definition of construction work (as per the Construction Regulations 2006) includes the following:

the carrying out of building, civil engineering or engineering work including; | |
| construction, alteration, conversion, fitting out, commissioning, renovation, repair, upkeep, redecoration or other maintenance, de-commissioning, demolition or dismantling of a structure | ||

the preparation for an intended structure, including site clearance, exploration, investigation and excavation, and the laying or installing of the foundations of an intended structure | |
| |
the assembly of prefabricated elements to form a structure, or the disassembly of prefabricated elements of a structure | |
| |
the removal of a structure or part of a structure or of any product or waste resulting from demolition or dismantling of a structure or disassembly of prefabricated elements of a structure | |
| |
the installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair or removal of mechanical, electrical, gas, compressed air, hydraulic, telecommunication and computer systems, or similar services which are normally fixed within or to a structure | |
