Office Safety Requirements

The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 places duties on employers irrespective of their work environment including:
 

  • the provision of a safe place of work
  • safe systems of work
  • safe access and egress at the place of work
  • hazard identification and risk assessment

 

These requirements apply to all workplaces including offices.


In addition, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 place particular duties on employers in respect of offices.  These cover issues such as:
 

  • Workplace and Work Equipment
  • Display Screen Equipment (VDUs)
  • Manual Handling
